Adding Video to your WordPress Blog posts
September 19, 2008 by Andy
There are a few plugins that can help with adding video to your blog posts, and I’ll show you one of these in a future tutorial, because for most popular video sites, adding video is as simple as grabbing the embed code and pasting it into your WordPress post.
Let’s look at an example:
If you find a video on YouTube, or some other some other video sharing site, you’ll find the embed code, and a permanent link to the video. Here it is on YouTube:
.. and here is the same info on Revver.com:
At Revver.com, if you don’t see the Permalink to the video, click the link that says “MORE”. The screen will expand to show more info, and the word “MORE” changes to “LESS” (as in the screenshot above.
To add the video from these and other sites without a plugin, simply copy the “embed” code.
Login to your WordPress Dashboard, and click on the HTML editor tab (I am using the Advanced Tiny MCE plugin which is why my edit may look different to yours):
Simply paste the video embed code into the HTML box:
You can type in the rest of the post after insertion, but because the video will not be visible if you switch the the visual editor, I recommend you type in the content of the page first, then switch the “HTML” and paste in the code.
Publish your page, and the video will appear in your content.
Below is a video embedded from Revver.com (which I think have far higher image quality than youtube videos):
